Natural Ways to Treat Puffy Eyes/Eye bags

One of the factors that can build wall between you and your perfect beautiful face are puffy eyes. Puffy eyes make you look tired, dull and worn out. It hampers your overall charisma and you feel frustrated and let down. We all have faced this issue at some point in our lives; some of us may be facing it almost everyday. Puffy eyes is basically swelling of the eyes due to certain reasons


The main causes of puffy eyes are:
  • Lack of sleep
  • Hangover
  • Excess crying
  • Stress and fatigue
  • Poor diet
  • Hormonal changes
  • Weather conditions
  • Sinusitis
  • Allergies

Simple home remedies can help you get rid of this most common beauty problem.

Home Remedies:

1. Water:

Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water so that the body is well hydrated. The toxins are flushed out of the body and when the body is well hydrated; water retention in body is avoided.

2. Cooling effect

Placing cool objects on the eyes gives relief from puffy eyes
  • Simply place few spoons in the fridge
  • Place the cool rounded portion of the spoons on the eyes
  • When it becomes warm place another spoon
  • You can also place cool water bag on the eyes.

3. Tea Bags:

The anti irritating properties of tea bags help reduce puffiness, redness and inflammation.
  • Dip two tea bags in water
  • Let them cool
  • Place these teabags on the eyelids
  • Cover with a soft cloth
  • Remove after ten minutes
  • Follow the remedy daily.

4. Cucumbers:

Cucumbers have cooling and astringent properties. They help reduce puffiness, dark circles and also tighten the skin around the eyes.
  • Cut thick slices of cucumbers
  • Cool them in fridge
  • Place the cold slices on the eyelids
  • Remove after 15 minutes
  • Follow the remedy three to four times in a day.

5. Egg white:

Egg white tightens the skin and removes the puffiness and wrinkles.
  • Take two egg whites
  • Beat it well till stiff
  • Apply it under the eyes with a brush
  • Leave it for 15 minutes
  • Wash with cold water
  • You can follow the remedy daily

6. Potatoes:

The anti inflammatory properties of the juice of potatoes helps reduce puffiness and under eye dark circles
  • Grate potatoes
  • Tie them in a cloth
  • Place these on the eyes for few minutes
  • Wash eyes with water
  • Follow the remedy daily

7. Cold water:

Puffiness due to lack of sleep can be done away with by splashing cold water on the eyes as it constricts the blood vessels and reduces the puffiness

8. Milk:

Milk cools the eyes and helps get rid of puffiness
  • Dip cotton balls in cold milk
  • Place this on the eyelids for few minutes
  • Wash with water
  • Follow the remedy daily

9. Strawberries:

Strawberries have alpha hydroxyl acids which helps reduce the swelling of the eyes
  • Cut few slices of strawberries
  • Cool them in the fridge
  • Place these slices on the eyelids for few minutes
  • Wash with water

10. Aloe Vera:

Aloe vera gel has anti oxidants which helps reduce the swelling.
  • Apply the gel to the under eye part taking care that the gel does not enter the eyes
  • Wash with water after 20 minutes 
In addition to the above home remedies cut of on your salt intake and caffeine intake as they lead to fluid retention. Also make life style changes and make sure that you get enough sleep so that your eyes don’t have to carry the load of the two pillows beneath their eyes
