Honey is not only delicious to taste, it also has several health benefits. Honey has the longest shelf life, infact it never becomes unpalatable. It has been used in several skin care products for its moisturizing properties.
 
The several benefits that it has on skin are as follows:
  • It seals the moisture in the skin
  • Does not allow skin to become dry
  • Reduces itching of skin
  • It keeps the skin healthy
  • Maintains the elasticity of skin
  • It has antibacterial properties which keeps skin infections at bay.
Due to its moisturizing properties honey is widely used in treating dry skin. The various ways in which honey can be used for dry skin are as follow:

1. Facial Scrub:

Honey can be used in facial scrub which helps remove the dead skin cells, rejuvenates the skin and moisturizes skin.
  • Take 1 tablespoon of honey
  • To it add one tablespoon of olive oil which is a good skin moisturizer
  • Now add a few drops of lemon juice which has cleansing and antibacterial action
  • To this mixture add brown sugar which will help remove the dead skin cells.
  • Mix well
  • Apply this scrub to the face
  • This scrub removes the dead skin cells and is not harsh on the face.

2. Exfoliator:

For extremely dry skin a good exfoliator is required to remove the dead skin cells. Honey with its antioxidants cleans and hydrates the skin while baking soda helps remove the dead skin cells.
  • Take 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • To it add 2 tablespoons of honey
  • Mix well
  • Apply the mixture to the face
  • Gently scrub to remove the dead skin cells
  • Wash with cold water.

3. Moisturizer:

Honey pulls the moisture from the air and seals it inside the skin. It keeps skin hydrated hence it can be used as a natural moisturizer.
  • Apply raw honey on clean dry skin
  • Leave it for 20 minutes
  • Wash with water

4. Pore Cleanser:

The enzymes in honey act as cleansers and keep the pores clean. Honey and coconut oil both have antiseptic properties which protect the skin from bacteria and infections.
  • Take two teaspoons of coconut oil
  • Ad one teaspoon of honey
  • Mix well
  • Apply it to the face
  • Massage gently in circular motion with the fingertips.
  • Cover face with a warm cloth
  • Follow the remedy daily.

5. Acne treatment:

Both honey and aloe vera have anti inflammatory properties .Their antibacterial and antifungal action helps in protecting the skin against acne and skin irritation without loss of moisture.
  • Take one tablespoon of honey.
  • Mix with one tablespoon of aloe vera gel
  • Mix well.
  • Apply it to the skin
  • Leave it for 15 minutes
  • Wash with water.
