6 Amazing Uses of Coconut Oil for Hair Loss

Coconut tree is rightly called as “Kalpavriksha” as each and every part of this tree is useful to mankind. Infact it is believed to be one of the first plants that were used by man. The fruit of coconut which gives us the refreshing water is also source for the oil. Mature fruit is used to extract the oil. 
 
From ancient times coconut oil is used for growing thick long hair and is considered to be one of the best natural hair conditioners. Always remember to use pure refined coconut oil for the scalp.

The reasons due to which coconut oil works as a magic potion for hair are listed below:

1. Lauric acid which is present in coconut oil combines with the hair protein and protects the hair from breakage by strengthening the roots.
 
2. Coconut oil moisturizes the hair and also protects it from dust, pollution and heat.
 
3. Massaging scalp with warm coconut oil improves blood circulation.
 
4. Coconut oil is a good source of antioxidants and nutrients which improves        hair quality. It also contains vitamin E and vitamin K and iron which fight dandruff which in turns prevents hair loss.

Coconut oil can be used in the following way for hair:

1. First and foremost is the selection of right coconut oil. Avoid using coconut oil with additives as it can damage hair. Always opt for organic virgin coconut oil.
 
2. Gently warm the coconut oil in a warm water bath (a container containing warm water). Never use a microwave for warming coconut oil as it may change the chemical structure of the oil.

3. Make your hair damp with warm water. Take warm coconut oil (quantity will depend on the length of the hair) and gently apply to the roots with fingertips.
 
4. Massage gently for three to four minutes as this will improve blood circulation. Few strands of loose hair may fall off but that is common during hair massages.
 
5. Put on a shower cap and leave it for at least half an hour. For best results leave it overnight.
 
6. Gently wash hair with a mild shampoo. No conditioner is required as coconut oil is one of the best natural conditioners.
 
We must therefore, take maximum advantage of this god’s gift which has been used for generations and will be used for many more to come. Coconut oil is a fabulous liquid filled with lots of benefits and still not expensive and easily available.
