4 Simple Home Remedies for Corn on foot

One of the most painful abrasions that your foot can get exposed to is corn. The pain can be so piercing that it can actually give you sleepless nights. Corns are circular patches of skin containing dead skin cells and have a crammed centre. Corn is actually body’s defense mechanism against any pressure that the feet are subjected to on account of friction of rubbing of the toes or pressure due to shoes. These can occur anywhere on the feet. On the top of the toes, between the toes; basically any place on the feet, which are subjected to immense pressure and friction


  • Tight fitting shoes
  • Loose fitting shoes
  • Socks which do not fit well
  • Walking on hard surface
  • High heeled shoes which subject the front portion of the feet to pressure
  • People with foot abnormalities for example hammer toes where the bent toes rub continuously against the shoes resulting in corn
  • Any part of the bone on the feet is more large or prominent causing friction between the feet and shoes.
There are some simple home remedies, which one may try to get rid of corn

Home Remedies:

1. White Vinegar:

The acidic property of white vinegar helps in softening the skin. Also white vinegar has good antiseptic and antibacterial properties which helps fight as well as avoid infection
  • Take one tablespoon of white vinegar in a container
  • To this add three tablespoons of clean water
  • Mix well
  • Immerse medicated cotton in the solution with help of clean tongs
  • Place this soaked cotton without squeezing on the corn
  • Cover this with adhesive bandage
  • Leave it overnight
  • Repeat the remedy daily till the corn gets cured

2. Baking Soda:

Baking soda helps remove dead skin cells. It also has antiseptic properties, which help fight infections.
  • Take baking soda in a tub
  • Add warm water to the tub
  • Mix well
  • Soak your feet in this water for 20 minutes
  • Alternatively take a little baking soda
  • To it add few drops of lemon juice and water
  • Mix well to make a thick paste
  • Apply it to the corn
  • Follow either of the remedies daily till the corn heals

3. Ripe Banana Peel:

Ripe banana peel contains antioxidant lutein, salicylic acid and potassium which gives it antibacterial and healing properties and helps cure corn.
  • Store the peel of a ripe banana in the fridge
  • Scrape the inner white part of the peel
  • Place it on the corn
  • Cover with a bandage for three to four hours
  • Follow the remedy daily till the corn heals

4. Garlic:

Garlic has antioxidants. It has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which help cure corn.
  • Rub the pod of garlic on the corn
  • Leave it all night
  • Wash next morning with lukewarm water
  • Alternatively crush three garlic pods
  • Roast three cloves and powder them
  • Mix the two and apply it on the corn
  • Cover with a bandage
  • Leave it for three to four hours
  • Follow either of the remedies daily till the corn vanishes
Apart from the above home remedies it is important to note that we should not subject your feet to unnecessary strain. Always wear right fitting shoes and socks. Avoid walking bear feet on hard surfaces so that you don’t face the problem of corn. If you do suffer from corn then it is important to remove it from the roots in order to avoid them from reoccurring. If the home remedies don’t give desired result immediately consult a doctor.
