15 Simple Home Remedies to get Rid of Blackheads

Women crave for radiant, beautiful, flawless skin. But there are several obstacles which make it look like a distant dream. One such obstacle is blackheads. These ugly tiny elevations affect our skin, appearance and self confidence.
A few changes in lifestyle can go a long way in avoiding blackheads. Try to maintain a stress free life and have sufficient sleep. Always drink plenty of water to keep your  skin hydrated and to flush out the toxins. With the help of some readily available ingredients at home, we can treat blackheads.

Home remedies for controlling blackheads:

1. Steam :

The steam from boiling water opens the pores and removes the dirt and excess oil. This cleansing effect is useful in eliminating blackheads and whiteheads.
  • Boil water in a huge bowl.
  • Steam your face for two minutes
  • Clean it well with a natural home made scrub.
You can take steam twice in a week.

2. Salt Water:

 Salt water works on black heads by drying out the excess oil.
  • Mix a little salt with water.
  • Apply it to the face.
  • Wash face with clean water after 5 minutes.
 This treatment can be followed everyday.

3. Baking Soda: 

Baking soda is a good exfoliating agent and antifungal agent hence it controls itchiness and dandruff.
  • Mix baking soda and water
  • Apply to affected area black heads.
  • Leave it for 20 minutes.
  • Wash with water.

4. Egg White and honey:

Egg white removes black heads and honey has anti inflammatory properties and is widely used in skin infections.
  • Mix egg white and honey
  • Leave it on face for half an hour
  • Wash with water for clean radiant skin
You can use this remedy once in a week

5. Lemon:

Lemon has antiseptic properties and hence can be used against infections. There are three methods of using lemon juice on black heads:

Method 1:

  • Mix yogurt and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Apply it on the face
  • Let it dry for half an hour
  • Wash with water.

Method 2:

  • Mix honey and lemon juice in a bowl
  • Apply it on the face
  • Leave it for half an hour
  • Wash with water.

Method 3:

  • Mix salt, yogurt and honey in a bowl
  • Add lemon juice to this mixture
  • Scrub face gently with this mixture for 5 minutes.
  • Wash with water.
All the three remedies can be followed daily.

6. Aloe Vera:  

Aloe vera has soothing effect on the skin and is also antiseptic in nature. Applying aloe gel juice to blackheads is found to give relief from blackheads.

7. Almonds:

The nutrient rich almonds are very good for the skin. They are good moisturizers as well. An effective home made scrub can be made using almonds.
  • Crush a few almonds.
  • Mix it with besan, which is also very good for the skin.
  • Use this scrub to clean your face.
This scrub can be used daily.

8. Turmeric:

Turmeric has healing properties. You can use it in two ways:

Method 1:

  • Mix turmeric powder with juice of mint leaves in a bowl.
  • Apply it to the face for 15 minutes
  • Wash with water. 

Method 2:

  • Mix turmeric, milk and sandalwood powder in a bowl.
  • Apply it on face for 15 minutes
  • Wash face with water.
Both these methods can be used daily for clean skin.

9. Oatmeal:  

Oatmeal is readily available in Indian markets and it exfoliates the skin.
  • Make a powder of oatmeal.
  • To it add rose water.
  • Apply it to the face.
  • After 20 minutes wash it off with water.
This scrub can be used daily to wash face.

10. Cinnamon powder:

Cinnamon powder can be used as an exfoliating agent.
  • Mix lemon juice and cinnamon powder.
  •  Scrub face to remove black heads.
Before using the scrubs make sure you are not allergic to cinnamon.

11. Milk:

Milk is good skin cleanser. Apply milk to the blackheads and gently rub with a towel to remove blackheads.

12. Fenugreek Seeds:

Fenugreek has antiseptic and anti inflammatory properties and hence is used in skin infections.
  • Grind fenugreek seeds with water.
  • Apply it to face for 15 minutes.
  • Wash with water to get relief from blackheads.

13. Mint toothpaste:

Toothpaste has an ability to remove blackheads. Apply some mint  toothpaste to the blackheads. Once it has dried wipe it with a wet cloth to remove the blackheads.

14. Tomatoes:

Tomatoes are good antiseptics and have a cleansing effect.
  • Crush a tomato.
  • Apply tomato juice to the blackheads.
  • Leave this overnight or till the juice dries.
  • Wash with water.
This method can be used at least once in a week

15. Green Tea:

Green tea has antioxidants and it prevents the accumulation of dirt. Applying the green tea to the affected part is very effective in eliminating black heads.

As we can see that we can use these easily available ingredients to remove black heads and attain the beautiful skin of our dreams without any harmful side effects which are a part and parcel of the expensive chemical products available in the market.
