13 Super foods for Oily Skin

We all wish for a smooth glowing beautiful skin. Some of us are naturally gifted with beautiful skin while for few of us we have to go
the nightmare of managing oily skin. Oily skin brings along with it other skin issues like acne, pimples and infections. But there is no need to panic. Good diet control can keep the situation under control. We have to maintain a healthy diet regime and strictly avoid foods that can aggravate the condition further
 

Foods that are beneficial for oily skin:

1. Water:

Water is the best natural tonic for the skin. Water hydrates the body .It also flushes out the toxins from the body. It rejuvenates the skin and makes it look fresh and glowing. In fact water therapy is used widely for glowing skin. Make it a point to drink ample amount of water everyday.

2. Fibers:

Fibers make you feel full for a long time and hence improve skin tone. It helps in absorption of nutrients .It also helps remove harmful toxins from our body. They also improve the texture and quality of the skin. Whole grains, cereals, corn oats and citrus fruits contain lots of fiber.

3. Cucumbers:

Cucumbers have high water content of 95 % and hydrate the skin. It acts as a coolant and gives healthy glowing skin. You can eat it in salad form everyday. Eating it raw gives best results.

4.Omega 3 fatty acids:

Foods that contain omega 3 fatty acids are good for the skin as these have anti-inflammatory properties, which protects the skin against infection. Soya beans, nuts, fruits like avocados contain omega 3 fatty acids.

5. Grapefruit:

Grapefruit has lots of fibers, water and vitamin C.It flushes out the toxins from the body and also helps in giving healthy glowing skin. Eat the fruit for best results. You can also have its juice but make sure there is no added sugar to it.

6. Green leafy vegetables:

Green leafy vegetables are loaded with antioxidants and help in keeping the skin smooth and glowing. Include them in your daily diet. You can munch on spinach; fenugreek etc. You can have it as a veggie or a salad or you can have it in soup form.

7. Nuts:

The vitamin E in nuts helps in giving acne free beautiful skin. You can snack on almonds, pistachios and walnuts.

8. Oats:

Oats have plenty of zinc, which reduces the sebum levels and also helps in the production of collagen. Eat a bowl of oats in the morning for breakfast.

Foods to avoid for oily skin:

1. Added sugars:

Sugars in any form have a high glycemic index, which is not god for the skin. High sugar levels result in hormonal imbalance and also result in excess oil production, which makes the skin looks oilier.

2. Milk and dairy products:

If your skin is prone to acne it is better to avoid milk and dairy products, as they will aggravate the condition further. As for the calcium you can opt for green leafy vegetables instead.

3. Red Meat:

Red meat has saturated fats, which results in increased cholesterol levels, which in turn has a negative impact on the skin. Avoid lamb, pork, and beef.

4. Excess salty and fried snacks:

Excess sodium results in increased inflammation. Salty fried snacks like chips; fries contain trans fat, which is an inflammatory fat, which can have adverse effects on the skin.

5. Refined flour:

Refined flour does not contain fiber and nutrients and contributes in increasing the blood sugar levels, which in turn make the skin oilier. Use only whole grain products.
 
For a healthy glowing skin it is not sufficient to pamper the skin from outside. It is equally important to have a healthy diet, which will nourish and paper the skin internally and bestow upon you the healthy skin of your dreams.
